Carlsbad Softball Associtation

donates to Toys 4 Tots for 2006!

CSA Secretary Traci Bojorquez was in her element this holiday season when she was given the green light to "shop til you drop!" from the CSA Board. The Carlsbad Softball Association Board approved a donation for 2006 of $750 to the Marine Corps Toys 4 Tots program this holiday season.  Traci hit local retailers by storm and gathered a few carloads of toys for needy children this holiday.  The toys were taken by caravan with girls from CSA (in uniform) to the Camp Pendleton Toys 4 Tots program where they were donated in time for distribution on Christmas.  Thanks for a fantastic job Traci!

T-Ball Fun Day a Huge Success!

Some arrived scared, others excited, and others clinging fiercely to mommy's hand.  Our freshman class of T-ball players came up to Calavera field at the beginning of the month and participated in the second annual T-ball fun day.  A few things were guaranteed:  All girls had fun, ate some cookies and juice, and went home with their very own brand new wiffle ball!  They even learned their first cheer!  T-ball fun day is our CSA way of welcoming our new 4, 5 and 6 year olds by introducing them to some girls who have been in the league a while and a few basic skills.  It was a great time for kids, parents and Board members.

CSA also used this opportunity to present a check to Carlsbad Christmas Bureau Secretary Sharon Moore. The Carlsbad Christmas Bureau is committed to helping needy families in Carlsbad over the holiday season. CSA feels it is important to help those in need and be a good community partner.

It’s ALL about the GIRLS

“It’s ALL about the GIRLS” is a program to create a positive culture in Carlsbad Softball.  It is a program designed to get the message to all board members, managers, coaches and parents that the main reason Carlsbad Softball exists is to provide a positive, healthy atmosphere for the girls who play in the league.  All other agendas that cloud this message are not useful.  The “It’s ALL about the GIRLS” program acts as a constant reminder of who we adults serve:  Our softball playing girls!  Some features of this program will include:

·        “It’s ALL about the GIRLS” will be the official theme for Carlsbad Softball for 2007.

·        Board members will be wearing “Carlsbad Softball: It’s ALL about the GIRLS” T-shirts and/or buttons to promote this program.

·        Banners with the league logo and “Carlsbad Softball: It’s ALL about the GIRLS” message and will be displayed the entire season at each field.

·        The “It’s ALL about the GIRLS” message will be emphasized and repeated at every CSA event including managers meetings, draft, team selections, team announcements, opening and closing day, etc.

·        T-shirts, buttons and bumper stickers will be sold at opening day and throughout the season, with proceeds going to the CSA scholarship fund.
