Happy Thanksgiving to all from CSA!
Newsletter note: The Spring season is nearly upon us and you will start to receive monthly CSA newsletters and occasional updates regarding Carlsbad Softball events. For those of you that are new to the league, these newsletters are a great way to keep up-to-date on coming events and additional services that our league has to offer. I suggest you take the time to read them. They are also archived at the CSA web site. If your daughter is no longer playing softball just send me a quick note and I’ll be happy to remove you from our email list.
Upcoming CSA Events: (All events are at Calavera unless specifically stated otherwise) December 2nd: T-ball equipment collection 4:00-6:00 at Calavera Is your old T-ball gear taking up space in the garage? Bring it up and donate it to CSA so we can put it to good use for our incoming T-ball players. We will be accepting gloves, bats, cleats, T’s, and anything else that is T-ball age appropriate. You can also bring your items up to Calavera from 8AM-9AM prior to the 6U (T-ball) orientation on December 3rd. December 3rd: 6U (T-Ball) orientation This is a first time event to welcome all our incoming and returning 6U (T-Ball) players. This event is guaranteed to be a good time for players and an informative time for parents. Games, treats, surprises, and much, much more will be offered. Used equipment will be selling for bargain basement prices! First year 6U (5 year-old) player’s clinic from 9:00-10:00 Second year 6U (6 year-old) player’s clinic from 10:30-11:30 Please arrive at least 10 minutes early. December 3rd: Manager Selection If you are interested in managing or coaching you need to apply NOW so that your application can be considered at this selection meeting. WE WANT YOUR INPUT! We will be selecting managers for the spring season on December 3rd. As a follow-up to our manager/coaches evaluations sent out at the end of last season the board welcomes feedback on last year’s managers. If you had a positive experience with a manager or coach last year WE WANT TO KNOW! We want to know about any less-than-positive experiences as well. This is YOUR CHANCE to help us shape the league and select the best and most qualified managers and coaches. Email your feedback to csaplayersagent@sbcglobal.net. All replies and the identity of respondents will remain strictly confidential.Wednesday, December 7th Manager Meeting: CANCELLED Wednesday, December 14th: Junior Umpire Registration Meeting Calavera Multi-Purpose room from 5:30-6:30 If your daughter is second year 12U (or higher) and interesting in being a Junior Umpire this is the meeting that she must attend! Parents are also welcome. We will be accepting a maximum of 25 girls for this program, so space is limited. Please bring:
The mandatory umpire rules clinic is January 29th. The umpire mechanics clinic is March 12th. There will be two levels of Junior Umpires this season: Purple Level

Junior Umpiring is a great way to build confidence and self-esteem, and girls can earn from $10-$25 per 90 minute game. Junior Umpires:

All managers (or a coach representative) should be present. Saturday January 7th: Team Announcements-Harding Center from 2PM-7PM Find out who your teammates are!!! Sunday January 8th: Mandatory coach’s clinic ****New this season**** Video and DVD Library CSA will be starting a video and DVD library available for check out by players, parents and coaches. Videos and DVD’s on pitching, catching, fielding, hitting, strategy and coaching will be available to be checked out. Videos and DVDs can be checked out from the snack bar for two weeks at NO CHARGE. Damage fees and late fees do apply. More info in subsequent newsletters… Field Maintenance Manager Needed! For the 2006 Spring Season, home team managers will be required to prepare and line their own fields before games. It is suggested that each manager designate a parent, or several parents, to perform this task for the team. A Field Maintenance Manager is needed to conduct field maintenance training seminars and oversee the field maintenance responsibilities during the course of the season.
