All-Star Dates
All age divisions are practicing hard in preparation for the upcoming all-star tournaments.
The tournament schedule is as follows: June 3-5 San Marcos Tournament June 10-12 Rancho Cucamonga Tournament June 17-19 Seabreeze Tournament: Played at Calavera, Poinsettia and Carlsbad High School. June 24-26 District Tournament played in Escondido.
Please mark your schedule and come watch one of our teams play. You will enjoy the competitive nature of all-star softball.
Tournament game times are often variable due to pool play, bracketing, and wins/losses. We will try to keep the web site updated with game times so you can come watch Carlsbad's teams compete.
All-Star Sponsors A sincere thank you goes out to the following sponsors that have answered the call to support our all-star teams: Steven Lawrence DDS\ Carlsbad Village Lock and Key Area Amusements Snap on Tools through Tony Maraschiello Farmers Insurance Group through Glenn Domingo Fire Fighter's Association Aroma PacifiCare Dental and Vision through Blanca Schneider
All-Star Notes o The board made the decision last month to purchase special high-tech bats for each CSA all-star team this season. Two bats will be purchased for each team and these bats will remain the property of the league and will only be used for all-star play in future years. These bats are rather expensive but definitely make the ball travel farther. It was felt that these bats were necessary for Carlsbad to be able to compete with other leagues using the same high-tech bats. Arrival is expected this week and the girls and coaches are excited. o All-star uniforms have been ordered and will be a very nice combination of purple and white jerseys, shorts and socks. The number one question the girls keep asking is "When will we get our uniforms?" They are coming soon girls! o Each year all-star players are given a gift from the league as a way of saying thank you for their dedication and effort. This year league will be purchasing each all star girl a special championship play NOCSAE approved helmet. These helmets are purple and will have the player's name or number in white. Our teams will represent CSA in style this year.
All-Star Updates Division 1 (10U) Division 1 All-Stars have been practicing hard 4-5 days a week and it is really beginning to show in the girl's play. We have played four "friendlies" (informal non-tournament practice games) this past week and we won all three vs. San Dieguito B, North Shore A, San Marcos A, and Oceanside. There were many positives in the pitching and hitting department, and our defense has held solid. The girls have been working hard on bunting, sliding and diving back to bases and that aggressiveness paid off big in our practice games. We will be working this week on bunt defense, hitting change ups and game situations. The girls (and coaches) are having fun. Our coaching staff remains cautiously optimistic at this early stage. More updates to come...J
Division 3 (14U)
The Division 3 girls played their first tournament last weekend, the Oceanside Riptide tournament. All the girls played very well finishing in 6th place with a 2-2-1 record. We had tremendous fans support and the added excitement this provided helped motivate our team. These Division 3 girls have shown great work ethic, attitude and spirit, creating a great environment for all. We are all looking forward to the upcoming challenges of the next four tournaments. -Coach Ed Ruskowski
Fall Ball Keep tuned to your email, CSA web site and mail for fall ball registration announcements.
Seabreeze Tournament Carlsbad Softball Association will be hosting the Seabreeze Tournament at Calavera Park, Poinsettia Park and Carlsbad High School on the weekend of June 17th-19th.
We will be hosting 40 teams including El Cajon, Rancho Cucamonga, Irvine, Poway, Laguna Hills, West Garden Grove, and San Clemente.
Come see what all-star/championship play is all about. Mark your calendars NOW, so you reserve time to come up to the fields and cheer on our Carlsbad teams.
CSA will also be needing volunteers in many areas for that weekend in order to make our tournament successful.
Correction My apologies go out to rookie spirit award winner Hanna Wynn of the Black Stallions for adding an "h" to the end of your name. Keep up the spirit Hanna!
