Carlsbad Softball Association February 14th, 2005 Happy Valentines Day to everyone. Opening Day Recap: Was it just me, or was Opening Day a huge amount of fun? Everything went smoothly and the girls seemed to be having a BLAST! Good food, music, friends, and neighbors…it was really a nice community atmosphere! Some pretty good ballgames too! Here are some of the highlights from Opening Day: Team Banner Winners T Ball: Team #2 Surfin Sea Turtles Rookies: Team #1 Purple Pirates Division 1: Team #2 The Monkies Division 2: Team 4 Chicks with Sticks Division 3: Team 1 Purple Haze Each member, including coaches, of the winning teams was awarded at Grand Slam Treat from the snack bar. A Grand Slam Treat includes a hot dog, chips and a drink. J Cow Drop Winners And the Grand Prize winner of the $500.00 was…Cathy Calkins. Congratulations Cathy!!! Website Update: Things are being added to the CSA web site on a daily basis. See the streaming video of Leland doing his Opening Day stand up routine…Need to know when a game or practice is, or when you are working the snack bar, you’ll find it at the web site. Junior Umpires schedules will be appearing soon. Go to: www.carlsbadsoftball.com.Team Sponsors: If you let us know the link to YOUR web site we will add it to OUR web site. We want to help your business grow. Also, I am looking for Division 2 or 3 girls that would like to contribute to a "Player’s Corner" on the web site. This will consist of game summaries, player interviews and photos, and other miscellaneous player/softball related stories. If your daughter is interested in being a "Junior Sports Journalist or Photographer" send me an email at josdc@adelphia.net.Snack Bar Schedule The Snack Bar Volunteer Schedule has been completed and is currently available at the CSA web site. Families who requested to volunteer and families who "did not specify" have been placed on the schedule. All parents must check the schedule! If you have chosen to not volunteer or if you have changed your mind and would like to give two hours, please contact Ken Yarnell at kyarnell@amerillum.com to make this change. If you are scheduled during a time that is a conflict, please find another parent with whom you can switch. If you fail to appear on your scheduled time, or if you do not have a replacement, you will forfeit your $25 deposit. After completing the 2-hour requirement and necessary paperwork, you will receive a refund check of $25 by mail. Thank you in advance for your volunteer time for the league. Without your help, we could not provide this service, which many families enjoy. ACE Coaching Clinic The ACE coaching clinic is COMING on Feb. 19th at La Costa Canyon High School. This is mandatory for all managers and open to anyone one else who is interested in learning how to improve their coaching skills. The cost is $35.00 per person for coaches. There are no games scheduled on that day! More Recognition: Congratulations to Muriel Schneider of the 14U Purple Haze for being the 2nd Runner-up in the Miss Teen Carlsbad/La Costa Pageant. J Casino Night!!! Marketplace: Division 3 coach has 8 new 11" softballs and would like to trade for 12" softballs of equal value.
