Carlsbad Softball Association

January 28thth, 2005

Opening day is right around the corner and this newsletter contains many messages and updates for parents and coaches alike. Read on and get involved in CSA! The 2005 season will be our best ever!

Website Update:

New items include full practice schedules, a list of coaches and board members, and even an archive of past newsletters for you to reference. Look in the future for game schedules, info on merchandise, and many more photos and human interest items about our players.

Manager and Coaches Corner:

The ACE coaching clinic is COMING on Feb. 19th. Mark your calendars. It is at La Costa Canyon High School. This is mandatory for all managers and open to anyone one else who is interested in learning how to improve their coaching skills. The cost is $35.00 per person for coaches.

Field maintenance: Home teams will be required to prep their own fields this year before games. Managers need to find 2-3 parents from their team that will help with this so that they can dedicate pre-game time to their players. Don’t wait…start recruiting now!

The field maintenance clinic is Saturday Jan. 29th from 10:15-11:00 at Calavera.

Sponsors and donated items needed!

We are still looking for sponsors for Casino Night tables.

We also need donated items for the silent auction. What better way to get recognition and advertise your business than by sponsoring a table or donating a product or service. Contact Connie Matkaluk at cmatkaluk@adelphia.net.

Why so many fundraisers?

A parent asked me that the other day. Here’s a quick look at some of the things that our fundraisers help pay for:

    • New uniforms: No longer just T-shirts. Wait until you see our new, upgraded uniforms…
    • All new equipment bags for the managers.
    • All new catchers’ gear and team equipment
    • Our newly refurbished snack bar
    • Umpires and game balls
    • Coaching clinics. CSA is supporting our league by sending all our managers to the ACE coaching clinic on Feb. 19th
    • Our CSA scholarship fund.
    • Ongoing projects: CSA is working with the City of Carlsbad to get approval for major field renovation projects. (Keep your fingers crossed!)
    • Hosting the Seabreeze All-Star Tournament at Calavera Hills Park
    • Too many other things to mention!!!

Sponsor Spotlight

Each week we will be mentioning three individuals or companies/organizations that have sponsored teams with CSA this season. This week’s spotlighted companies are:

Area Amusements: Placement and restoration of Pinball Machines, Video Games, Juke Boxes and Pool tables. Home sales and service is provided.  Thank you Mark Rizzo for sponsoring the 14U Purple.

Carlsbad Firefighters: The community appreciates all that you do!  Thank you for sponsoring the 14U Blue team.

Carlsbad City Credit Union, a division of Cabrillo Credit Union, has been providing financial products and services to the residents of San Diego County since 1955. CSA thanks you for your support!

Please show your appreciation by giving these individuals or companies your business and/or some special recognition.
